Twence

In May 2014, I will fly off to South Africa to take part in a three-week-during study tour where we will experience business and culture in a unique way. The title for this study tour ‘Ke Nako’, is a Sotho phrase, which basically means ‘It’s time’. This refers to the fact that it’s time for Africa to be in the world’s spotlight, specifically Cape Town as the World Design Capital 2014.

In order to realize this journey, it is support by the business community. Prior to the trip, all participants complete a project or assignment for a company to be able to finance the Study Tour. My task was to design a new look for the ‘grondstoffenton’. The current grey container exudes that waste is useless. In contrast, Twence seeks to opportunity to reuse waste as profitable as possible by creating monostreams. Therefore, by means of a sticker, a different appearance is given to the container to enhance the fact that waste does not exist, but is the raw material for new materials and products.
